HISTORY OF
TEAM JJR
The support team around Jonty comprises Mum (Jo) and Dad (Jonny). Mum is ‘Head of Human Performance’ for Team JJR, ensuring the boys are properly prepared to do their best every time they hit the track. Mum also takes on the role of marketing and partnership guru, making sure all supporters are up to date with the latest news and results. Mums’ final role is providing the best cuddles in the moments after everything goes wrong on track!
Dad is chief mechanic and race engineer. He gets the fun of preparing the kart in the week and then making sure it runs faultlessly and quickly each time on track. Dad also works with Jonty to decide on the engineering set up of the kart to optimise on-track performance. Dad used to do this for a lot of different drivers in the olden days, he is getting better again with more practice! Some of Dads drivers have gone on to race F1 and Indycar so hopefully he can train Jonty to do the same.
